Blocks, tiles, mats, alphabet blocks and ABC blocks
Alphabet blocks or ABC blocks are among the best educational toys (they could even be called educational games) that parental money can buy. Many are brightly colored, featuring letters of the alphabet and numbers. Young children usually begin to sort them by colors, of which they will learn the names. Then they begin to learn the letters and numbers.
Next to the alphabet, blocks are excellent for introducing mathematics. The children can put the numbers in order to practice counting, or count the blocks themselves. Eventually they can use them to experiment with addition and subtraction. Oh dear... if my parents would only have known this, sixty or more years ago, I might have been really rich now instead of only moderately wealthy (wide grin)!
